    Re: posting photos

Thanks for joing the forum!  Let me try to explain the photo upload process.

    1. The first thing you need to do is go to your photo gallery.  To get there, click the "Photos" tab at the top of the website.  Once there you will be presented with the latest photos that have been added to the site.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the All Galleries link.
    2. Locate your username in the list of photo galleries and click the link (your username).
    3. In the lower-left corner of the screen are three links under the heading "Common Tasks".  These links are: add picture, manage albums, and control panel.  Any of these links will take you into the administration area of the site where you can manage your photos.  For simplicity, let's click the "add picture" link.
    4. You should now be preseneted with a tabbed window in the middle of the page with a header "Publish New Photo".  Click the "Upload Photo" button.  When the window pops up, click the "Browse" button and select the photo from your computer that you would like to upload (you can optionally enter a "Friendly Name/Description").  Once the photo has been uploaded you should see a thumbnail of the image on the screen.
    5. Enter the Subject of the photo (this is used to label the photo).  Be descriptive, so name it something like "1978 Corvette Stingray 454 engine".
    6. Optionally you can enter "Tags".  This is a very useful feature to help classify your photos.  Basically you enter a comma-seperated list of keywords that relate to the photo.  So, in my example above, some sample tags would be: Corvette, Stingray, 1978, 454, engine, blue.  In the photo gallery people have the ability to search and browse based on tags.  You'll also notice there is a "tag cloud" (labed "Popular Tags") in the upper-left corner of the Photos homepage.  As people upload more photos to the site and tag them, certain tags will be more popular then others (hence the reason that some words in the tag cloud are larger than others: i.e. Corvette and Stingray).  Clicking on a tag will display a list of pictures that use that tag.  Tags are a little nebulous to describe, but it will make sense once you start using them.  I promise.  :)
    7. Optionally you can enter a description of your photo.
    8. There are other tabs on the "Publish New Photo" page (Options, Advanced Options, and Preview) which allow you to do more things with your photo, but these are all optional.

Well, that's it!  When you're in the administration area you'll notice that there is a menu on the left side of the screen that allows you to get around in this section of the site.  Click the green Manage Content button and the menu will expand revealing "All Photos", "Tags/Keywords", and "All Comments".  Clicking "All Photos" will display a list of all of your photos.  From here you can add/edit/delete your photos.  Enjoy!

Don't forget to comment on other people's photos.  As an example, I commented on this Mustang photo.

    Hope this helps!
